The real answer is that there are 6 Fs in the sequence.
The reason why most of us see 3 or 4 is that our minds are programmed to overlook the word “of”. We have an unconscious bias towards the word “of” which has developed over time to help us read faster,
This is an example of how our brains can do things for us, that sometimes we aren’t aware of (or are unconscious of)
How does this relate to culture? Sometimes we make decisions based on what our brains have been programmed to learn about cultures when the facts are really quite different to what we see.
Unconscious bias is not a bad thing, it helps us to make decisions without expending too much energy. However, not acknowledging we have biases is where we are likely to have problems.
